Scientists say that have located the parts of the brain that control religious faith….?Read on?

And the research proves, they contend, that belief in a higher power is an evolutionary asset that helps human survival.

( From the Independent )
‘ Researchers said their findings support the idea that th brain has evolved to be sensitive to any form of belief that improves the chances of survival, which could explain why a belief in God and the supernatural became so widespread in human evolution history.

Quote ; ” Our results are unique in demonstrating that specific components of religious belief are mediated by well-know brain netwokrs, and the contemporary psychological theories that ground belief within evolutionary – adaptive cognitive functions”

What are you thoughts on these foundings?

Another failed attempt to explain away our need for God. Nothing more.

Eventually medical science will advance to the point that following the nonsense of religion will die out and become replaced with realsim. It’s already starting.

I enjoy such articles, and it stands to reason, and it also begs the question: where will we end up with this? How does this evolutionary branch flower? (so to speak) Many people are fearful and everyone senses a certain heaviness in our future horizon, but this sort of news can be more uplifting if people don’t dismiss it.

They are untenable. This would mean that the rationality that decides about God (and incidentally guided this research) does not know its own boundaries. But if that were true then the scientists wouldn’t know whether they were operating from rationality either.

    by Mario Beauregard

"Beauregard’s group at the University of Montreal found specific areas of brain activation associated with contemplative prayer. But these patterns are quite distinct from those associated with hallucinations, autosuggestion or states of intense emotional arousal, resembling instead how the brain processes real experiences."

So it’s the part of the brain linked maybe to survival itself, but not necessarily beliefs per se. I’ve kind have thought maybe it’s in the ‘gene memory’ that indians have believed in; ancestors thoughts, etc., are actually passed on generation to generation. Maybe even beginning from the days the Lord actually walked with us. Doesn’t prove anything to me actually.

In this age of information, knowledge is plentiful, but wisdom is scarce.
Being smart is far different from being wise! Wisdom means far more than simply knowing a lot. It is a basic attitude that affects every aspect of life. The first step to wisdom is "fear of the Lord" to honor and respect God, to live in awe of his power. Faith in God should be the foundation for your understanding of the world, your attitude, and your actions. Trust God and he will make you truly wise!!!
