Get Rid of Stress – 6 Ways to Manage Your Stress Effectively
Manage Your Stress Before it Manages You
We all know that stress is a complex thing and can have many negative effects on our bodies and minds.
However managing it takes more than a few deep breaths & positive thoughts for most of us.
So how do we manage this beast called stress?
Stress is a psychological and physiological response to anything that happens to disturb the harmony of our lives or our personal equilibrium in some way or other.
The problem with the body’s stress response process is that as there are so many situations that can trigger stress, eg traffic jams, work situations etc, that the more often your body responds to these crises the harder it is to shut off and your stress hormones, heart rate, & blood pressure remain elevated even long after the crisis has passed.
This obviously places a heavy toll on the body which can result in long term health problems.
How to Manage Your Stress
You will agree it is therefore essential to learn how to deal with stress in a way that has a positive influence & reduce its negative impact on your daily life.
6 Ways to Effectively Manage Your Stress
- Healthy Body = Healthy Mind Exercise never fails to help relieve the intensity of the stress in your life
- Deep Breathing Calms Anxiety Breathing deeply from your diaphragm will reduce general anxiety and provide additional benefits, such as lowered blood pressure and heart rate. Also, it is estimated that deep breathing eliminates about 70 percent of the toxins and wastes in our bodies.
- Help Others Doing something positive will help you work your way out of your negative inner thought circle.
- Healthy Mind = Healthy Body Out of the approximately 60,000 thoughts an average person has every day, nearly 80 percent of these thoughts are negative which effects your thought patterns and behaviors subconsciously and subsequently has an extremely unhealthy impact on your body.
- Stimulants Reduce your intake of stimulants as too much caffeine stimulates the central nervous system stimulator that works against your attempts to relax the body and calm the mind – the result of course is anxiety, insomnia, a racing mind – all contributing to stress.
- Relax Easier said than done but by practicing certain relaxation techniques you can counteract the negative effects of stress. If practiced regularly Yoga is extremely effective in serving as a protective quality by teaching you how to stay calm and collected in the face of life’s curve balls.
In conclusion whilst stress is undeniably damaging, there are many things you can do to manage it effectively and reduce its harmful effects on the body and mind.

Someone Please! Financial Aid Appeal Letter?
Hi, my name is Amanda Hawkins. I am writing this letter in hopes of effectively explaining why I feel I should have my financial aid reinstated. My trouble getting good grades my first year at Newbury College was due to a family issue that is really hard for me to talk about. My progress in school was negatively affected by my mother’s drug problem with crack. During the school year, I lived on campus but would go home on weekends and the problems happenning there would really hit me hard. I felt like it was my responsibility to go home every weekend and check up on her. I felt overwhelmed with these issues and adding school work and essays on top of that added significantly to the stress. Now I realize that going home and surrounding myself with that stress and negativity is not going to help me. If reinstated my financial aid, I will do everything in my power to make sure I get all of my work done, and in turn, raise my gpa. I realize that as much as I care for my mother, I really need to focus on my education at the moment. To successfully progress in my academics in the future, I plan to:
Separate myself from negativity at home while in school.
Meet with a couselour at Newbury College and talk about the problems I am going through.
Go to scheduled office hours of each instructor when I am having difficulty with class material.
Work on finding alternative ways to manage stress.
Get help at the campus tutoring center.
I want nothing more than to excel in my studies and reach my goal, which is to get my bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising. Without financial aid , I will not have the ability to continue on with my education. My mother is not in the position where she can be helpful to me financially. My education is extremely important to me and I want nothing more than to be able to complete it. Thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Amanda Hawkins
Any tips? Do you think they will realize that I’m being honest?
By the way..I changed the name of the school and my last name. I’d never put that info out on the internet
don’t say crack say something non specific like drug problems or drug abuse other than that its good!

Sounds good to me. Only I would elaborate on exactly how you plan to separate yourself from negativity at home and find alternative ways to manage stress.
On a side note, you should also attend local Al Anon meetings or something similar. It will help you to understand that you are not responsible for your mother. Somehow your roles have been reversed and instead of her taking care of you, you feel responsible to take care of her.
It’s not a good idea to post your full name and where you attend school online for all to see, there are a LOT of crazies out here!

Dear Amanda,
I have a program that I have been working on for about four years, that I think might help with your problem. I have on file, all seperated into different folders, aprox. 276,538 scholarships, grants, internships, and fellowships.
My VA. doctor said that I needed a hobby that would help take my mind off some heath problems I was having at the time, along with the advise of my oldest daughter, this is what I came up with. If this type of program cam help solve your problem, send me an e-mail at: gerald_morgan56@yahoo.com .
Sincerely,
SMSgt. Gerald Morgan ( Ret. )

Amanda,
I would suggest that you contact the Academic Support Services office at Newbury prior to submitting your letter to Financial Aid. I work in Financial Aid at another university, and we require that a student have a plan worked out with their academic advisor, or with our Academic Support office. You may possibly be able to have staff from the Academic Support office appeal your aid status for you — it will all depend on how these types of appeals are handled at Newbury.
Aside from that, I think your letter sounds good. You have laid out the circumstances, as well as changes you plan to make to ensure that you are able to complete your studies successfully.
Good luck as you continue with your studies.

Yeah, I would use something more generic like "drug addiction" instead of crack and I would also go ahead and enroll or enlist in the help you’ve discussed. This will show that you are sincere in your attempts. Best of luck to you!
