Music of this decade? Posted this in rap section none had the cognitive capacity to read 5 paragraphs?

I just wanted get you all’s opinions on what the music of the 2010’s will be. Every 10 years music seems to change I think this decades change will represent a HUGE change partly because it is natural as the first decade of the century that it will usher in a new type of music. I will express what i will think will happen to music during this decade below please tell me if you agree or disagree.
Firstly, I think that all that can be done on traditional instruments has been done for instance every riff you can play on a guitar has been played, every beat on a drumset has been done. I believe really this was realized in the late 80s/ early 90’s. Because of that people started incorporating computer generated sounds in music. Also, i believe that songs have been written about everything and because of this people will start to focus more on the sound the music makes instead of the singing rap was really the last unexplored area of singing and now it is started to follow the whole electronic computer generated sounds movement.
You can witness this by the music today Lady gaga, LMFAO, ke$ha, black eyed pea, and almost every genre have very heavy techno/electronic styled beats. I believe that this trend will continue for the next 1-2 years until the mainstream music will basically be eurotranceish. Kind of like the song raver’s fantasy styled music for the rest of the decade i believe this will be the music of choice. Keeping in mind that computers are now an integral part of our life( and will only get bigger) and the accessibility of programs to make this kind of music i think it is unavoidable that this eurotrance styled music will dominate the 2010’s. I can not see trance becoming completely mainstream yet because people still need that little bit of vocal performance in music but it will just be a back up to the melody.
I also think that big record companies are DONE(but of course everyone has known this for awhile) basically because the internet has made it capable for artists to mass distribute their own music very easily. I also think that their will be no big super stars like the lady gaga, lil wayne, and such today. Partly because the ability of so many people to put so much music out their will cause people to have so many different songs to choice from no one person will become to popular. I see musicians making money off becoming club styled DJ’s basically they will work for salary at clubs (which i think will become even bigger and more important to social function) making a decent amount, and because there will be so much music, it will become more regional, you can kind of see this with the whole west coast, south coast, east coast rap styles.
I think there will also be some sub-genres that reject this new computerized music and try to move music back to 50’s style rock or Early hip-hop/rap, these will not be the mainstream but i see them as kind of like a punk movement not mainstream but does have a following.
The main thing is that as technology will improve our lives we will seek to use it more and more in our music. The use of internet and all will allow us to have big gatherings making clubs very popular. The availability of making music will cause more people to become musicians resulting in a different means of distributing it and becoming more proud of the musicians in your area causing distinct regional styles.
I know this was long i was just brainstorming here what do you all think? My final guess that in the 2020’s Trance will be popular sort of like classical music of the new century the whole history runs in a cycle deal. Please tell me what you think and if you agree/disagree and why.

Maybe if you had the cognitive capacity to set the paragraphs off properly, somebody would be ineterested in reading it.

In my opinion in this year it would leave off where 2009 was as a mixed popularity of music between hip hop, pop, rock sort of type music which has been going through right now while it is the revival year where bands and artists from before are coming back on the mainstream scene
As for the decade I believe that a new genre will be ruling the mainstream scene with stuff like jazz or harder type rock and hip hop but with a soft touch
pop and hip hop will still be popular but it will be shared with new genres that I never heard before, for all we know Country could be the biggest genre out there in this decade to come
I am just making a prediction on how the musical aspect of this decade will be so I won’t be correct and I’m probably wrong on how music use to be but I am just taking my opinions and making a hypothesis basically.

I would just like to point out that there is a difference between not having the ‘cognitive capacity’ and not caring. Don’t pretend you’re better than anyone.

I don’t agree at all. Retro will become the biggest thing, people are becoming more and more alienated from popular culture and are seeking out unknown bands. The big labels are not done, which is a shame but its true. I think internet downloading will decline to be honest. I think somewhere around 2018 there will be a grunge revival. It won’t be the biggest thing but it’ll have a moderate hardcore following, i think bands and artists in general may return to analogue recording techniques (retro). I think theres evidence now that things are swinging to a heavier sound with all these "rock chicks" springing up. I doubt very much that there will be a huge genre change. It’ll be subtle. Youll see ;)

well, For one, I agree that there will be massive expansions in the area of electronic music, and it will be incorporated to a much greater degree into other styles of music.
I disagree about the "everything being done" part. Even just breaking a single measure down to 16th notes, there are over 665,000,000,000,000,000 (665 quadrillion) different combinations of notes and rests, and that does not include quarter, half, and whole notes, as well as any subdivisions smaller than 16th notes, and most musical motifs are over a measure long, so it would only grow, exponentially (over 443,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000 different combinations of 16th notes and rests in a two-bar motif). By comparison, there are only about 6,800,000,000 people in the world, and only a fraction of them are musicians. So there are many more different combinations of notes that can be strung together, in the western system of music alone.

Next, major labels: They will still be around for a while to come, but their role will change to become almost exclusively chart-topping music. All other music will gravitate toward independent labels and self-release. With the price and quality of commercially available recording equipment and technology, it is hardly uncommon to see bands put out high quality recordings for relatively cheap, outside of a studio, if they know what they are doing.

Well I can talk about the electronic music, because thats mainly what I listen to..

I agree with a lot of what you said about it. I’ve noticed lately there are more pop music artists that are basically electronic dance music but with lyrics throughout the songs, thats why people like them, the lyrics, just as you said. And like you said making electronic music only requires at a minimum a $200 dollar program, lol. Some artist makes the music and get other people to do the singing, like David Guetta, so you don’t even have to be able to sing, just be able to make a good beat. I’ve known people who say that when you add a techno-beat to an otherwise regular song, it immediately makes the song more upbeat and likable. This kind of music, which in Europe is called Pop Dance, Pop Trance, or Eurodance, is VERY popular in Europe, I say that because pretty much all the music like this I listen to is from Europe, and theres a ton of artists in Europe similar to Lady Gaga and David Guetta. A lot of people who listen to electronic music actually don’t like this Eurodance stuff because its not pure electronic, but there are a lot more people who like pop music, so throw in a techno beat to something that sounds like pop music and you have a much larger crowd who likes it.

    Proof:
Earlier this month I went to a club here in Denver to see Basshunter, who’s a Eurodance artist/singer if you don’t know, and the next day the event promoters posted on their facebook page saying that was "the biggest night in Colorado night club history". Which pretty much says that Eurodance/pop-dance is more popular than your ordinary lyric-less electronic music. And that was the first time that a Eurodance artist EVER came to Colorado, so if he brings a bigger crowd into a club, that should tell you something. Since he made that the "biggest night in Colorado night club history" I take it that is a sign they’ll bring him back or look for more Eurodance/pop-dance artists to bring here.

Part of me would like to think that electronic music will take over and become very mainstream, in some ways it is as in the artists you mentioned. But I don’t think the genres of pure electronic music like house or trance will become mainstream, because there aren’t any lyrics in a lot of those songs. I think America just hasn’t been exposed to enough electronic music with lyrics, like Eurodance type stuff. Like I said theres a TON of it in Europe, so why isn’t it gaining popularity here? I don’t know… But I do know more people in general like Eurodance stuff than regular house and trance without lyrics.

Oh and I agree that pretty much everything that can be done with a guitar or drumset has been done and heard, lol. A lot of people say that all techno sounds the same. Well I think a lot of rock and music that uses regular instruments sounds the same, because I’ve heard all the exact same guitar and drum sounds in every song! And come on you can’t make an awesome deep bassline to really get use out of a sub in your car without doing something electronic. Theres a lot of electronic sounds just waiting to be used in pop music. One of Lady Gagas songs(Bad Romance) even incorporates a sound that was common in older techno from the early 90s, I thought that was awesome when I heard it.

Anyway.. Yeah, electronic music, specifically pop-dance and eurodance I think will become more popular over time.

I yeah and forgot to mention. I’ve noticed on one popular radio station around here, they use to play a lot of more upbeat pop-punk stuff like Unwritten Law, The Ataris, Fall Out Boy, and so on.. Now they don’t, they seem to be playing a lot more mellow laid back kind of music. Are people getting slower? lol. Are people becoming more relaxed and wanting to listen to mellower music? I don’t know whats up with that..
