Can anyone help me find some stress relief methods?

I have Asperger’s Syndrome and Clinical Depression. I get these random bouts of anger and sadness and it frustrates my friends and family. This and a bunch of other things are causing a great deal of stress for me. I’ve tried writing, meditating and taking walks, but they don’t help. The only thing that seems to work for me is binge eating. I just eat and eat and it scares some of my friends. I’m trying to find other Stress Relief methods, but I can’t. Please help.

Relax your body completely.
Take in 4 deep breaths, repeating 4 to yourself as you exhale.
Then take 3 deep breaths, repeating 3 when you exhale.
Now take 2 deep breaths, repeating 2 when you exhale.
Finally, take 1 deep breath, repeating 1 as you exhale.

I have anxiety that causes migraines, so I know what you mean by stressed with nothing that can help. Try deep breathing, just take 4 or 5 good, deep breaths breathing in through your nose until you feel like your lungs can’t possibly hold more, and slowly let it out through pursed lips. After 5 or so, you will feel much, much better. Good luck.

I’ve never been diagnosed with anything but I’m sure I have depression as well. I’ve found being outside helps, the fresh air is amazing. Also exercising is a great way to reduce stress.

You can try writing or finding a creative outlet. The binge eating you have to look into though that can be something more. Food gives us a sense of "fullness" that is otherwise lacking from our lives but it isn’t a healthy way to handle life’s stresses.

Find an activity that you really like. If you have health insurance, most of them cover mental health issues, you can always look for counseling.

I would recommend PMR (or progressive muscle relaxation). All you do is lay in bed (or a comfy couch, whichever tickles your fancy) then pick a muscle group eg. your left upper arm. And contract it for 4 seconds, then release. Repeat the process twice more & then move on to a different muscle group. Continue until you’ve finished all the muscle groups or until you feel relaxed =]

You can also play music you like in the background if you’ve found music to be relaxing. If not, try silence.
