Can a person’s brain fully recover from a breakdown?
Let’s say a person is going through a severe bout of mental illness, Ie. Anxiety/Depression etc, can their cognitive functions be affected? For example: memory/forgetfullness, reasoning, perception, articulation, attention, information processing? And if so, if they are treated, can the brain improve?
My best friend is going through all of those and had to be hospitalised because after her mental breakdown she became schizophrenic and then manic depressive and had to be admitted in a psychiatric facility. It has been like a month since then and she has recovered 50% and is getting well rapidly. So my answer would be yes.
yes it can fully recover if it is treated i know i been there before

If these issues are treated the brain will improve. The longer you live with anxiety and depression however the more detrimental it can be to memory, perception, etc. This is because with anxiety your Central Nervous System is constantly being activating which keeps you overly alert and keeps your body in an overall state of " fight or flight." This can take a toll on someone’s memory, immune system function, and even personality. This can be very stressful for someone and can be exhausting. It can also make you more likely to deal with illnesses such as colds, flus, stomach bugs, etc. But once someone is on the road to recovery he/she will find that his/her memory is better and forgetfulness fads. Mostly it is the affect of depression and anxiety on the body that causes this forgetfulness. Your brain is still working just fine, but may not be up to par only because your body isn’t functioning at it’s best. So once you are treated and are able to heal, your brain’s functional level will be right back to normal.

Our 20 % cells of the brain are working and 80% are the reserve.
God has made this system that if our 20% cells will damege then 80% will take over their place.
But recovery can not be predictable.
There is no specific time.
My father had anoxic brain injury in 2001 and he is in recovery stage.
