How To Lose Weight While You Sleep

Most of us simply take sleep for granted. We assume we need our “rest” without ever thinking much about it. But the most important function of sleep is to allow our bodies to regenerate themselves. If we engage in physical exercise or muscle-taxing work during the day, our muscles, ligaments, skin, cartilege and other working parts of our body are worn down in the process. The body needs a time of rest to rebuild these damaged parts. That is what happens during sleep.

In other words, the body engages in a restorative process during sleep. And this restorative process uses energy to rebuild both lean muscle mass and other kinds of body tissue. That is worth repeating — the rebuilding processes that take place during sleep use energy. And if the restorative processes are running smoothly and efficiently, the required energy comes from the places in our body where energy is stored — from our fat cells.

So while we sleep the body repairs and rebuilds organ tissue, ligaments, tendons and lean muscle by burning the calories we take in as food during the day. And if that is not enough, it will burn excess fat.

Several things about this process are worth noting. They have an important bearing on how efficiently it works.

Collagen is very important to the body repair process

Collagen is the most common protein found in our bodies. It is the main component of our skin, nails, bones, cartilage, and connective tissue and is found in all of the body organs. Cartilage is the cushion and shock absorber between joints, and the reason we stay flexible and mobile. But cartilage and other soft body tissues are the very things that break down during our normal daily activities. So healthy cartilage and other soft tissue is constantly being regenerated by the body naturally and this process which depends on a steady source of collagen contributes to keeping us youthful and flexible.

Unfortunately, as we age our bodies lose the ability to produce collagen at sufficient levels needed to support the restorative processes that our bodies are designed to perform. This can be a major contributor leading to a premature aged appearance and can seriously affect our flexibility and mobility.

Therefore it stands to reason that a collagen supplement combined with other natural ingredients can have a dramatic impact on the deep restorative processes that take place during sleep. This in turn can allow the body to experience more energy, build more lean muscle, and burn more fat.

Amino acids enhance the regeneration process

The rebuilding process is also dependent on the production of a unique amino acid combination found in collagen. As part of the restoration process, these collagen based special amino acids help maintain lean muscle mass and allow the body to more readily consume fat for energy during the deep restorative sleep cycles. This natural metabolic function directly contributes to weight loss and our ability to maintain our “proper weight”.

But again, as we age, our body’s production of collagen and its unique amino acids is reduced. The natural ingredient L-Carnitine, when properly combined with collagen in a natural supplement, can significantly enhance the body’s natural function of converting excess fat into readily available energy. During deep sleep, this special amino acid conbination works like a natural “turbo charger” to help your body repair, preserve and build lean muscle while burning stored excess fat to supply the needed energy.

Not eating before sleeping is important

Since the body uses deep sleep for the restoration process, it is important when using a collagen supplement not to eat approximately three hours before going asleep. This is because we don’t want nutrient competitiion between undigested food and the collagen supplement’s special nutrient formula. If the body has to concern itself with digestion it will not absorb the collagen formula properly. Therefore your body will not be performing its natural restorative process while you sleep, but rather will be concerned with undigested foods and will actually be storing fat from the continuing digestive process rather than burning fat as the energy for the deep sleep restorative process.

This tends to put us into a “diet circle of frustration”. The less time your body spends in deep restful sleep (without competing digestion), the less time it has to restore its natural health, and the less fat that is burned in support of this natural rebuilding process.

Now we understand how deep restful sleep and weight loss often go hand in hand with our overall health.

Reducing or eliminating the intake of food three hours before bedtime allows the body to use its natural fat reserves for metabolic fuel during the deep restorative sleep cycle.

Collagen weight loss products build on this process

Natural collagen supplements enable the natural process to help people lose weight and be more naturally healthy. For instance, the product called Lose and Snooze consists of a blend of Collagen, L-Carnitine and Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera). The Collagen contributes to a more youthful appearance, greater flexibility, and all round mobility and strength.

The collagen supplement also enhances the deep sleep necessary to enable your body’s natural metabolic functions to occur, like when we were children. The second ingredient, L-Carnitine promotes the burning of fat in support of the natural rebuilding, restorative process that occurs during deep sleep. And Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) contains numerous nutrients and amino acids that help create a healthy environment in support of your body’s ability to create its own collagen.

Many users of collagen supplements like Lose and Snooze have reported good results. But researchers stress that going to bed on an empty stomach is an integral part of the therapy. Many users report that using a collagen formula in combination with an empty stomach before bedtime, has been beneficial to their general health and has helped them naturally lose weight.

And because collagen supplements only help lose excess fat (while rebuilding muscle), they can be used by anybody — not just people wanting to lose weight. They have also been beneficial to folks who want to enjoy Better Sleep, build lean muscle, improve their appearance and reshape their body while maintaining their proper healthy weight.

Sleep Apnea Effects in Overweight Children

Sleep apnea is recognized as a common condition among overweight children. If your child has sleep apnea, he stops breathing for a period of 10 to 20 seconds during sleep. The interruption of breathing may extend up to 2 minutes. This episode may occur hundreds of times in a single night.

Sleep apnea can be caused by complete obstruction of airway or partial obstruction. Therefore obstructive sleep apnea is defined as obstruction of airway during sleep. Due to the obstruction of airway, your child’s sleep gets interrupted. As the sleep is interrupted, your child may feel drowsy during the daytime. This also results in tiredness, headaches, loss of memory, lack of energy and depression.

If your child is a normal weight child, he may have tonsils and adenoids which can be cured with surgery. If you child is overweight, the excess fat may narrow the airway. Excess body fat on the neck and chest constricts the air-passageways and sometimes the lungs.

Obesity, mainly abdominal and upper body obesity, is the most significant risk factor for obstructive sleep apnea. Thus morbid or malignant obesity carries a greater risk.

If your child lies down, the throat muscles relax, the tongue falls back and the airway gets obstructed. Due to the obstructed airway, the oxygen cannot be pumped to various parts of the body. Therefore oxygen levels drop, and your child arouses from sleep to breathe and the cycle begins again. Your child might experience snoring which is the result of sleep apnea.

Snoring results from the vibration of excess tissue – whether it’s fat, large natural anatomy or both – as the child breathes in.

Here are the signs and symptoms so that you can identify that your child is suffering from sleep apnea.

1. Interruption of breathing during sleep. Your child may gasp for breathing when breathing is interrupted.

2. Loud snoring or noisy breathing during sleep. As a parent of your child, you can find if they snore; your child may make all types of strange noises when he is sleeping. But snoring is less common in children.

3. Your child may be having a restless sleep. If your child is having sleep apnea, he is not going to get a good night sleep, as may not be able to breath properly while sleeping.

4. Breathing through the mouth, rather than through the nose.

5. Excessive tiredness or daytime sleepiness during the day.

6. With the inability to breath properly, your child may have difficulty in paying attention and difficulty in concentrating.

7. Your child may be having tonsils and adenoids.

Your child may sleep with his mouth open. You can see his chest retract as he gasps for air, and he sometimes sleep in strange positions. Your child may show signs of depression or outward signs of confusion because he may be generally tired, from lack of sleep. Your child may also show signs of behavior changes as he is not getting the sleep needed.

Due to the presence of some, or indeed many, of these signs does not necessarily mean that your child is suffering from sleep apnea, but it would be better to consult a specialist if he is facing with any of these symptoms.

Today, sleep apnea is being widely recognized as a common disorder amongst children of all ages, and particularly amongst children between the ages of about three and six. Estimates vary, but in the United States alone, the number of children suffering from sleep apnea is put at between one and a half and two million.

Treatments, Cures And Remedies For Sleep Disorders!

Only those of us that suffer or have suffered from sleep depravation can truly understand what it’s like to try and think and function as a human being running on half steam. There are so many causes for sleeplessness that there is no cure-for-all remedy or treatment. However, so long as you can identify the root cause of your problem, you will be in a much better position to find the right treatments, cures, and remedies for your condition.

One of the more common yet most overlooked causes for insomnia is simply because folks have gotten themselves into bad sleep patterns. By this I mean going to bed at a different time every night, staying up all night and sleeping all day at the weekends, and basically just not practicing any kind of sleep routine.

People who develop a consistent routine of waking up and going to bed at the same time everyday, (even at the weekends), often find they can say goodbye to their lack of sleep once and for all, and once again, they are able to function normally during the daylight hours. If you have problems sleeping, you might want to take a look at your sleep pattern.

People who worry a lot often find they take their woes to be with them, and this can keep us tossing and turning all night long. My grandmother used to say, “You die if you worry, and you die if you don’t! So why worry?” Okay so that’s easier said than done, but if this is you then you really should try not to take your worries to bed with you. After all, you can’t do everything at once, and whatever it is that’s keeping you awake will be there in the morning whether you sleep or not. Be good to yourself and try to live in the moment as much as possible.

There are many great books on how to live in the ‘now’ and some folks find that by adopting some of the suggestions outlined in these publications, they are able to get their sleep back on track.

One friend of mine that used to suffer greatly from insomnia found a simple yet powerful bedtime ritual which has helped him sleep like a log ever since. Before he puts his head on the pillow at night he asks himself 2 questions. 1. “Did I deliberately upset or hurt anyone today?” and, 2. “Did I do anything to deliberately upset or hurt myself today?”

But even if he answers ‘yes’ to any of the above questions, he promises himself that he’ll try harder to be more tolerant and compassionate towards himself and others tomorrow. Simple, yet effective way of clearing the mind of any wrongdoing, and it’s quite often this latent and subconscious shame or guilt that we carry around which keeps many of us awake at night. Sound daft? Try it! You could be pleasantly surprised by the results.

There are many treatments and remedies for sleeplessness, some good, some not so good, and other which are just pure poppycock, and it’s important to note that what works for one may not work for another. Finding a cure for ‘your’ sleep problem is first identifying the cause, and then practicing a few of the suggested treatments and remedies.

Some of the more simple solutions for mild sleep disorders include exercising in the afternoon, drinking warm milk or other warm bedtime beverage before going to sleep, avoiding anything too mentally stimulating during the evening hours, and just getting into the habit of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day.

Getting a Better Night of Sleep Without Having to Resort to Sleeping Pills

Many people nowadays have busy and often stressful lives and this can cause several sleep problems including insomnia. For far too many people this means turning to sleeping pills as a fast and simple answer but, unluckily, this short term answer all too often results in long term difficulties as you become addicted to your sleeping pills, they are no longer as effective as they once were and side effects start to appear.

The answer to sleep difficulties therefore is to look for an alternative method of treatment and to look for an insomnia cure that does not involve using sleeping pills. This said, here are four very simple things to help you to get a sound night’s sleep.

1. Make time for a little regular exercise. Exercise is an excellent way to reduce the stresses and strains of life and there are numerous exercise routines available to suit all tastes. For example, exercise does not have to be confined to the gym which many people find to be the height of boredom. Aerobic exercise is without doubt best and so any sort of outdoor games, walking, swimming, tennis, badminton and many other activities are just fine. Remember though that you should not take exercise too near to bedtime and so late afternoon or early evening is a very good time to pick.

2. Learn a relaxation technique. To get a good night’s sleep you have to relax both your body and your mind and this means taking a bit of quiet time to focus your attention on clearing your mind and relaxing your body. Here there are all kinds of different relaxation techniques that you can follow and the secret is to find one which you like and that works for you and then to set fifteen or twenty minutes aside every evening to relax before retiring for the night.

3. Recognize the importance of laughter. It is frequently said that ‘laughter is the best medicine’ and this is a very true saying. We are not talking here necessarily about the need to laugh out loud in true ‘belly laugh’ fashion and for many people engaging in an activity that simply raises a smile is enough. One good way to achieve this is to watch something comical on television, instead of an action packed movie, during the evening or to read a humorous book or magazine before going to sleep.

4. Ensure that you are eating the right foods. The body is really a chemical factory and the food that you eat has a significant effect on the degree of chemical activity within the body. Accordingly it is important that you stay away from foods that are likely to have a stimulant effect in the hours before you go to bed. For example, stay away from such things as alcohol and caffeine and rich foods like those that are high in sugar. You should also avoid consuming a heavy meal too near to bedtime and, though you should not go to bed hungry, a light meal that is just enough to remove those hunger pangs, instead of a large pizza is the secret to a good night’s sleep.

These are of course merely 4 of the many different things that you can do to see that you get a good night’s sleep and the secret to curing insomnia is to look at natural lifestyle answers and not follow the traditional and damaging sleeping pill route that so many people have followed for years.
