<p>Anxiety attacks aren&#8217;t always composed of sudden, debilitating bouts of depression, melancholia, and worry like some people would have us think. As a matter of fact, anxiety and stress is at it&#8217;s most troubling when it creeps up on us slowly, in the course of our daily lives. Instead of being a hammer blow of fear and stress, the most telling forms of anxiety are more like sand caught between the gears of a machine, that wear away at it gradually until it stalls or falls apart.</p>
<p>To that end, dealing with anxiety is best done BEFORE the breakdown. For people who are already in the heavier stages of anxiety, it&#8217;s best to seek professional counseling. However, for most of us, it&#8217;s not too late to do something personally to relieve our stressors before they get more serious. Here are ten tips to take that can help you in that direction.</p>
<p>1) Concentrate on the Solution, Not the Problem &#8211; Most people&#8217;s anxieties come from thinking so much about what&#8217;s going wrong that they lose track of what they can do to set it right. Focusing on trying to find a positive solution to a problem is not only more productive, it also helps you to keep your mind off the potential &#8220;bad things&#8221; that can happen and stress you out.</p>
<p>2) Focus on Logic &#8211; anxiety or stress is a product mainly of our emotions. Whenever any stressful situation crops up, our first natural responses are with emotion, wether it be elation, laughter, worry, or pain. When troubles arise, deal with the problem logically instead of emotionally. This allows your solutions to be both more effective and unaffected by personal biases, as well as avoiding anxiety.</p>
<p>3) Find a Hobby &#8211; this is a simple thing to implement. Hobbies may, to some people, seem to be a waste of time and resources. However, hobbies, wether in the form of music, exercise, reading a book, or whatever, allow us to relax and take our minds off the &#8220;daily grind&#8221; that can contribute so much to our anxieties. Nothing is too &#8220;silly&#8221; to be a hobby, as long as you actually like doing it.</p>
<p>4) Improve Your Sense of Humor &#8211; it&#8217;s actually a truism that laughter is one of the best medicines in the world. Taking things TOO seriously causes a lot of anxiety. Fussing over any and everything is a surefire way to getting wrinkles before you&#8217;re old (which add their own worries and anxiety). Learn to laugh at the world, the things around you, and even (perhaps most importantly) yourself and your worries. If you can find something funny in even the dumbest things that happen to you, your anxieties will collectively pack up and leave for an extended vacation.</p>
<p>5) Baby Steps &#8211; when handling situations, remember to take things one step at a time. Trying to plan everything far in advance makes you lose track of the present, and you wind up worrying over things that haven&#8217;t even happened yet. There&#8217;s nothing wrong with having contingencies for almost every possibility, but it&#8217;s best to focus on the here and now. Looking too far ahead down a road tends to make you miss the banana peel at your foot&#8230;</p>
<p>6) Murphy&#8217;s Law Has a Point &#8211; okay, so maybe the saying &#8220;what can go wrong will go wrong&#8221; isn&#8217;t something designed to make you relax. However, this can be modified in a certain fashion. Things DO happen from time to time that we would rather didn&#8217;t. You have two choices: agonize over them (and give yourself anxiety, heartburn, and hemmoroids) or just do something about it. Work on and plan for the things you know you can do something about, and just shrug off and deal with the things you can&#8217;t.</p>
<p>7) Half Full or Half Empty? It&#8217;s BOTH! &#8211; most people say &#8220;think positive&#8221; to deal with anxiety. This isn&#8217;t always possible. Blind optimism that things WILL work out will cause tons of anxiety when they eventually DON&#8217;T. On the other hand, cynicism and a certainty that things will go boom in your face isn&#8217;t a healthy way to think either. Hope for the best but don&#8217;t expect it, and plan for the worst without letting worries over it bog you down.</p>
<p> <img src='http://heartmathstressrelief.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> Hamsters are Your Friends &#8211; okay, I&#8217;m half-joking. Actually, it&#8217;s true that people who keep pets, especially warm, fuzzy, loveable ones, tend to get their stress knocked out by the antics of their little buddies. If you&#8217;re not an animal lover though, feel free to reject this option.</p>
<p>9) Avoid Music and Movies that Kick Your Butt &#8211; there are certain times life has a soundtrack. When we&#8217;ve just been ditched, it&#8217;s almost a dead certainty that the radio will play something sappy and viciously appropriate. However, we don&#8217;t have to go out of our way to amplify this cosmic phenomenon. If your anxieties are caused by worries over street violence and the safety of your children, for example, don&#8217;t watch a movie about gang wars, or you&#8217;ll wind up locking your kids away in the basement till they&#8217;re 20-something. They won&#8217;t like that unless you include an ample supply of beer, potato chips, video games, and porn. Not a good idea.</p>
<p>10) Avoid Paranoid People &#8211; birds of a feather, and all that&#8230; you know the saying. Well, if you have anxieties about certain things, don&#8217;t hang around with people stuck in the same rut who spend all their time whining about it. Find people who have gone through the things that bother you but have come through it with their skins intact. You&#8217;ll learn useful things, AND you will know that no matter how bad things get there&#8217;s always an end in sight.</p>

<p>Let&#8217;s talk about beating, winning&#8230; conquering stress instead of just managing your stress with some simple and easy to implement personal techniques.</p>
<p>If stress is weighing heavily on you&#8230; many times it&#8217;s because you never take the time for yourself to decompress.</p>
<p>Yoga, Tai-Chi and other similar disciplines have been around and have been quite effective in relieving bottled up stress from within you body. These techniques not only help relax your thoughts, but they also help you to get into shape&#8230; being out of shape is a very prominent contributing factor in building stress.</p>
<p>Even if these Far East disciplines aren&#8217;t your cup of tea, consider taking some classes or get some information on the art of meditation. Meditation is very easy to learn, and has numerous benefits. Not only is this a great way to relax, it only takes but a few minutes a day for you to learn how to effectively drain the stress from your body. Learning the art of meditation and focus will help your mind move away from that which is causing your stress and teach you how to relax and stay relaxed. </p>
<p>Even something as simple as engaging in deep breathing exercises can be an excellent step in the right stress reduction direction. Lessening the symptoms of stress is the first step in permanently curing the effects of stress on your both physically and mentally.</p>
<p>Be sure to check your eating habits as well. Healthy eating habits can be very helpful in reducing how your body reacts to the daily grind and stresses. Do some research on diet and foods that help to raise the level of serotonin levels in your body. Be mindful that there are a lot &#8216;pills&#8217; on the market that claim to do this; but are in fact quite worthless&#8230; so keep your focus on the foods you eat and your diet.</p>
<p>As far as drugs and stress are concerned, there are some mild drugs such as sleeping aids that can assist you in getting a good night&#8217;s sleep and be helpful on occasion. The risk with this approach is that you at the least become &#8216;immune&#8217; to the helpful effects&#8230; or worse&#8230; you develop a dependency on them&#8230; not so much in a narcotic sense but that you&#8217;ll get into a habit of &#8216;having&#8217; to take them.</p>
<p>Other techniques such as aroma therapy or mood music have also proved helpful for many. These two techniques are basically the root of meditation in which you just take time to relax and change your focus from the stress agent. If these techniques work for you, then by all means they are worth using and certainly can no harm.</p>
<p>And finally, if I haven&#8217;t hit upon anything yet that you think will help pull that stress from your body&#8230; go get a good massage. Many times an underlying contributor to your stress can be muscular tension and soreness. Combine a massage in conjunction with some relaxing music and you may just find that this is the ticket. </p>
<p>No matter what stress reduction program you implement, the key is to consistently give yourself the time of day for a stress break&#8230; a focus change&#8230; a mental vacation. If you do this, you&#8217;ll soon find that you&#8217;ll get better and more efficient at your stress breaks and you&#8217;ll be able to more naturally relieve your stress.</p>

<p>Stress and pressure have become a part of our lives. We experience it in varying degrees. This stress, pressure and anxiety are mostly to do with things that happen around us and the way we react to these events. It could be due to our work, family, travel, money among other things. It affects us in more ways than we can imagine. It has a subconscious effect on our behavior and action.</p>
<p>Over a period, this influence becomes very perceptible in our life. We tend to get angry and frustrated at the first opportunity. Our mental and emotional balance goes for a toss and we end up doing irrational things that we thought we were incapable of. This pushes us deeper down than finding solutions to our problems. We lose our ability to think and to make decisions.</p>
<p>How can we overcome stress in order to lead a healthy and happy life?</p>
<p>The first and foremost step is to understand you better. You must know what triggers your anger and stress. It could be because you are overloaded with work or it can be due to someone else&#8217;s actions and behavior or it could be just about any reason. You must figure that out and take conscious steps to reduce your reaction and involvement to the person or thing that triggers your stress. We can attribute a cause-effect relationship to every human action and behavior. Once you understand the cause and its effect, then overcoming it becomes easier.</p>
<p>Emotional detachment helps you to become immune to things that cause stress and pressure for you. For example, if your work is the reason for your stress, then you must take steps to detach yourself emotionally from it. This does not mean that you neglect your work but you must ensure that are not affected by its outcome. It is not easy. It is a long hard road, which requires a lot of deliberate effort. However, the end of the road is wonderful and it is worth the effect.</p>
<p>Some techniques are available to relieve your stress and pressure. Some of them are yoga, meditation and physical exercise. Mediation helps you to focus all your attention and concentrate on a single point, which could be a thought or an object, depending on the individual. This gives you an opportunity to delve deep into your mind to know what is happening there. It helps you to take your mind away from the problems that give u stress.</p>
<p>As human beings, we have evolved to adjust and live in our present surrounding. But some of the basic instincts remain the same. One of them is the characteristic to fight off any harm or evil that may affect us. Certain hormones are present in us that are released when we have to take steps physically fight off anything that may affect us. Nowadays, we don&#8217;t have to run behind away from other animals to protect us. So this results in a build-up of hormones that cause tension in our body. Scientifically, it has been proved that physical exercise helps us to release these hormones. You may be surprised to know that you actually feel more relieved after a workout session.</p>
<p>Yoga is another method to relive your stress. Though yoga is less vigorous than physical exercise, it will help you to attain physical and mental stability.</p>
<p>These techniques help you to take control of your lives. You decide what you want to do. You must be able to keep away from things that affect you by shutting yourself completely to such things. This will help you to live a long, peaceful and happy life.</p>

<p>&#8220;This is driving me to drink&#8221; a once popular humours phrase is rooted in the fact that many times stress is the root cause for the consumption of alcohol.</p>
<p>While it may be true that someone under stress may have a tendency to seek a good stiff drink; it is just as true that the chronic consumption of alcohol can cause stress. Moderate consumption of alcohol can actually have some beneficial effects on one&#8217;s health. The problem lies when the alcohol consumption is heavy and becomes more and more frequent as a reason to relieve stress. This type of compulsive behavior over time will actually worsen the stress in one&#8217;s life.</p>
<p>Heavy alcohol consumption stimulates the hypothalamus, the pituitary, and the adrenal glands. A side effect of this is an increase in the amount of cortisol and adrenaline produced. Although both of these to chemicals alone don&#8217;t cause stress directly, it is believed they play a role in the symptoms.</p>
<p>As you may have experienced, stress makes it more difficult to concentrate and focus. These are also effects that accompany alcohol consumption. So you can see from the math that someone who is feeling the effects of stress and is under the influence of alcohol is getting a heavy does of concentration inhibition&#8230; probably at a time when they need clear thinking the most.</p>
<p>Exercise is known as one of the best tools and defenses against stress. Unfortunately consumption of alcohol doesn&#8217;t lend itself to motivating one to go have a workout. So, the more frequently the drinking the less frequently it is found that people engage in healthy activity.</p>
<p>In addition, heavy consumption of alcohol suppresses one&#8217;s appetite. Yet at the same time, alcohol is not calorie free. So again, someone who has the propensity to consume alcohol is getting a double dip by decreasing their motivation to maintain a healthy while consuming non nutritional calories provided in alcoholic beverages.</p>
<p>Along with everything else in the spiral of excessive alcohol consumption and stress, comes the fact that alcohol debilitates one&#8217;s mental faculties, thus making it even more difficult for the drinker to think rationally. In this state, more mistakes are made, important tasks and dates are missed or mis-timed which only heightens the stress that is already surrounding this person. In an alcoholic state, the person can literally not even think their way out of their predicament&#8230; again causing yet more stress.</p>
<p>As you can see, this is a perilous cycle a person get into&#8230; the stress encourages drinking and the drinking creates scenarios that produce more stress. Although the results of alcohol and stress vary from person to person, the lesson learned is that teaching yourself to have a drink to relieve stress is not a solution or a habit to get into.</p>
<p>If a person finds themselves engaged in this endless loop of self destruction, the key is to break the cycle. It is imperative that this person first finds an alternative for dealing with the stress in their life. By doing this, the individual will immediately relieve the alcohol induced stress and thus immediately reduce a significant portion of the overall stress right there.</p>
<p>In many cases something as simple as proper diet and beginning an exercise program or other physical activities are an excellent starting point.</p>

Body detox is a process through which we intentionally change, at the very least, our food and lifestyle choices to allow the body to process and reduce toxins and pathogens to a safe level. </p>
<p>The primary cause of toxin build-up is poor diet. Fast food, junk food, and the preservatives and additives in processed foods lead to any number of complaints as they throw bodily processes out of whack. Among the most harmful foods are those high in acidity like caffeine, carbonated beverages, meat, sugary foods, and processed (including canned and frozen) foods. Toxin overload can also result when your biological processes are not operating properly, including when you can&#8217;t eliminate wastes properly. Changing your diet in a good body detox program may allow your biological processes to recover to a normal state.</p>
<p>When toxins within the body exceed normal healthy ranges, a person can become exhausted easily, gain weight, develop muscle and joint pain, and even, in the extreme, develop cancer. <p>If you&#8217;re hearing more about body detox these days, it&#8217;s no accident. Detox ain&#8217;t just for drugs or alcohol. It&#8217;s for all of us. We live in a world of air pollution, water pollution, and bad habits. The chemical revolution is still going on, and chemicals, both healthy and not, surround us everywhere. </p>
<p>The US Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Disease Control, performs a survey called NHanes that assesses the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States through interviews and direct physical examinations. They found that, in 2003-2004, two-thirds of adults in the U.S. were overweight or obese. Almost 20% of teenagers were found to be overweight or obese.</p>
<p>In today&#8217;s busy life, we bombard our bodies with fast food, processed food, and a mountain of preservatives and additives every day. And now, we hear about genetically altered &#8220;designer&#8221; foods whose impact on our bodies is still largely unknown. <br />
Despite the popular focus on health and lifestyle choices, most of us are walking a very thin line when it comes to our diet. The current obesity epidemic is clear evidence that our diets and our lifestyle are out of control. Given this bleak picture, the good news is that people are becoming more aware of the foods they eat.</p>
<p>When we talk about &#8220;detoxification,&#8221; we&#8217;re talking about the process of removing toxins from our bodies. For our purposes in this article, body detox refers to the use of diets, herbs, and other processes to remove toxins and achieve better health.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re concerned about your health and the amount of toxins you may be carrying around with you, it may be time to consider body detox. It&#8217;s a healthy choice in an otherwise unhealthy world. But don&#8217;t be fooled. Body detox means a change in lifestyle. It means eating a more balanced combination of healthy, natural foods. It means drinking more water and less coffee and soda. It means regular exercise. It means avoiding fast food, junk food, and processed prepared meals (including frozen dinners and canned goods). These changes will not be easy, and you probably won&#8217;t want to take it all on at once. But you can begin today to change the way you approach food.</p>
<p>Changing your lifestyle and undertaking body detox also means more and more regular exercise. You don&#8217;t have to join a gym and buy a bunch of new exercise clothes. You just need to get up and move more! Take brisk walks, go bowling, walk when you want to ride, carry your own groceries to the car. There are a million ways to get more exercise without even noticing it.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re more serious about detoxing your body, you may want to investigate a detox diet. It will reduce the toxins in your body, relieve aches and pains, reduce the discomfort of allergies, improve digestive problems, and increase your energy level. You can find many body detox recipes on the internet. A trip to your local health food store is also a good way to learn about body detox foods and recipes.</p>
<p>When you&#8217;re committed to body detox, eat as many fresh fruits as you can. Favor nuts, beans, rice, and grains over fried foods and gravy. And try to avoid sugary desserts, caffeine, alcohol, yeast-rich dishes, and processed foods that contain many questionable preservatives and additives.</p>
<p>A one- or two-day fast is a good way to transition in and out of your body detox effort. Be sure to get plenty of liquids, especially water, during your fast. And don&#8217;t push it. If hunger becomes an obsession, have a piece of fruit or a few carrots or celery sticks. You don&#8217;t have to punish yourself during your body detox.</p>
<p>There are many other ways to detox and to change your lifestyle to one that promotes personal health and happiness. Re-acquaint yourself with nature. Go outdoors and enjoy the fresh air. Take a long walk at the beach or in your neighborhood park or nature preserve. Incorporate &#8220;me time&#8221; into your daily schedule, and make it a family affair too. Keep active and interested in the world around you. Get involved.</p>
<p>For a real body detox treat, go to the spa. Have a relaxing massage or deep-cleaning facial. When you shower, use a brush to accelerate the detox process. Brushing your skin gently will improve your circulation and help you shed those layers of toxin-rich dead skin.</p>
<p>Help your body eliminate toxins naturally. Drink at least four quarters (or liters) of water every day. Eat fiber-rich foods like raspberries, blackberries, broccoli, apples (with the skin), spinach, almonds or peanuts, and good old stone-ground whole wheat. And when you stop by that health food store, look for teas and other herbs that will encourage regular bowel movements. </p>
<p>Body detox involves some mind detox too. Negative thinking, believe it or not, contributes to the production of toxins and over-acidity in the body. Rid yourself of worry, anger, and pessimism. They serve no positive purpose, and they are unhealthy. Smile until you want to smile. </p>
<p>There&#8217;s no bad time to start body detox. Today&#8217;s hurried, high-stress pace cries out for a little personal self-care. And your family deserves the same healthy lifestyle. Body detox may be as simple as working on your attitude, ridding yourself of negative, destructive thinking that compromises your health. It can be as easy as taking a walk in the park or treating yourself to a long, hot shower. It can also be as complex as adopting and sticking to a strict detox diet that cleans your tissues and organs of harmful pathogens and over-acid chemistry. It&#8217;s your choice. The important thing is finding a way to cleanse yourself. </p>
<p>Whatever approach you choose, you&#8217;re doing yourself and those around you a favor. You&#8217;re bringing some sanity back into your life and setting an example for your children and your social circle. You&#8217;re living better and enjoying life more. </p>
<p>How much would you pay to have that miracle? Well, you don&#8217;t have to pay a thing! You just have to change your approach to your day &#8211; each and every day.</p>
