I need some stress relief tecniques to make my work days easier?
I work in a restaurant as an assistant kitchen manager. We are a very busy restaurant and each day is very demanding. There are a lot of young people that work there and they are just there for the pay cheque. I get very tense at work dealing with the day to day issues and would like to remain calm and stress free can anyone suggest something to get rid of the stress through out the day
I also work in a high stress career and have found that basic distractions at work help me the best. I eat a lot of hard candies, they help relieve stress because you can concentrate on the taste, shape, texture and if you really need to you can just crunch it and get rid of some tension. I also have stress balls. They sell many different kinds—different shapes and textures–give you something to take the stress out on and distract you at the same time.
Good luck and hope these help a little. You also said that most of the people that you work with are really young–I work with some of those also and a lot of times I just pretend that they are in elementary school—that way I don’t get quite as mad at them for being morons.

How can i help my daughter to sleep better?
My 14 month old daughter is always so restless at night when I put her to bed, she tosses and turns all night as if she can’t sleep

Well, To be honest she isn’t on any form of schedule which may be part of the reason , I’m going to give this a shot to get her on a schedule.
Set up a routine every night. It may take a while to get your daughter into this routine, but when she’s finally used to it, it’ll be worth it.
Give her a warm, comforting bath each night, about an hour before her scheduled bedtime. Use lavender scents to relax your baby, as well as yourself!
Dress her in a comfortable nighttime outfit that keeps her at the right temp; not too hot and not too cold. Light fabrics like cotton won’t irritate sensitive skin and a soft, light blanket over her will keep her warm.
Set up something you do with her every night. Softly read her a short story or sing her a lullaby. The sound of mommy’s voice has been proven to soothe babies.

emotional eating?
i eat when i’m depressed or stressed out…how can i Stop Emotional Eating?
One option is to find a different outlet to relieve your stress and/or depression with. Instead of eating yourself deeper and deeper into a hole, find a different way to let out your emotions. As mentioned above: watching a movie, spending time with friends, taking a nice, long, relaxing bath, listening to music, reading a book, and exercising are great alternatives. You could also try chewing sugar-free gum, or talking to someone on the phone; anything other than eating. You need to find something that will take your mind off of the stress or depression.
If you need to do some snaking, then be sure to stock up on healthy options, such as vegetables. You could eat carrot sticks all day long and not gain a pound. But, along with keeping healthy options around, you need to get the “sweet stuff” out. Give that leftover hunk of chocolate cake from the party to your friend. This will eliminate any possibility of binging.
Over-eating only adds onto the stress load, so maybe keep a stress-journal or confide in a close friend to concur your cravings. That way, you can keep track of your diet, and get some support while on your journey to change your relationship with food.
Where can I learn about Up/Down-Regulation in humans?
I’m studying Physics, so this is foreign to me. I want to know of a document (preferably an online document, that I can get a URL to) that will describe the functioning of genes and metabolic interactions that govern human down-regulation or up-regulation to chemicals.
How do we acquire a tolerance or become differently affected by (through the course of prolonged secretion of ingestion) things like: melatonin, caffeine, piracetam (a nootropic cognitive enhancing drug thought to improve short-term memory), and epimedium?
Can any drug be used for long-term enhancement, or will there always be regulation? Can any drugs suppress up or down regulation?
So if anyone can answer these questions here, or recommend a document, that would be great

I’m reading the chapter about that in a text called "Psychopharmacology" ( Jerrold S. Meyer and Linda F. Quenzer, 2005 ), up or down regulation has mainly to do with the addition or reduction of neuron receptors for a given drug, and also the fact that some drugs act to increase the enzymes which metabolize them (down regulation), while some drugs work to reduce the enzymes of metabolization. Another good source would be the text "Uppers, Downers, and All-arounders".
